Public Housing Application Process

Reading Housing Authority is opening the Public Housing waiting list for the following size units:

0 Bedroom/Studio
1 Bedroom
2 Bedroom
3 Bedroom
4 Bedroom
5 Bedroom

The length of the waiting list varies according to BEDROOM SIZE, and DATE AND TIME APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED.

Due to large number of applications received the waiting list is generally only open for a short period of time.

Fill out a pre-application form, and then mail it to the address on top of the form.

Applications are not accepted via e-mail, fax or hand delivery.

The acceptance of pre-applications will be restricted to currently open waiting list/lists.

You will be notified by mail when your name reaches the top of the waiting list.

It is very important that changes in famiy compostion and addresses be reported promptly, by completing the Reporting Changes of Application form.

Application may also be obtained by calling 610-372-3933, or 610-796-1386 (TDD) for the hearing impaired. All applications requested by telephone prior to Friday, April 4, 2014, will be mailed on Thursday, April 3, 2014. All applications requested by telephone on or after Friday, April 4, 2014, will be mailed on the day requested.

Only applications returned by mail to Reading Housing Authority, 815 Franklin Street, REading, PA 19602, with a postmakr between Friday, April 4, 2014, and Friday, April 18, 2014, will be accepted.

Completed applications received will be placed on the waiting list according to date and time the application is received by the Authority. Preferences will be given to families who live, attend school, work or have been hired to work in the City of Reading. Families must pre-qualify according to the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy of Reading Housing Authority.
