RHA assists about 700 households throughout the City of Reading, which include some vouchers that are funded by other public housing agencies, through portability. The program serves older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income individuals and families.
Mainstream Vouchers assist 29 households in the City of Reading who are under age 62 and include an adult with a disability. Applications for the Mainstream Vouchers Program are accepted as part of the “regular” Housing Choice Voucher Program.
57 Emergency Housing Vouchers were allocated to RHA as part of the American Rescue Plan of 2021 in order to assist households experiencing homelessness in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. These vouchers have “sunset”, which means that they are no longer available when current participants exit the program.
