Residents General Information

Reading Housing Authority uses a centralized Work Order system to provide maintenance services to residents. During the office hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., service can be requested by telephoning the Central Maintenance Department at 610-777-5500. Residents must provide name, address and telephone number, and a clear and complete description of service need or request.

For resident-requested maintenance service, the caller will be asked to give permission for RHA staff to enter if no one is found at home.  RHA staff will enter the unit without permission or advance notice in the event of an emergency.  In all cases, RHA staff will leave a notice in the home related to the purpose and outcome of the visit.

If the emergency occurs after the office is closed, on a weekdays after 4:30 p.m., or on Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays, 24-hour maintenance services are available at 610-378-1800.  Please note that this number is for emergency use only.  Examples of emergencies include conditions that may cause a fire, heating system failure, a sink and toilet clog, a fast-flowing water leak, a refrigerator not working, and a stove with 2 or more burners and an oven not working.

Additional information on maintenance-related issues, including lock-outs, modernization, air conditioners and pest control can be found in the RHA Resident Handbook.
